College Transition Planning
Support the shift from parent-led to student-driven with intentional summer coaching.

Don’t Let Them Build the Bike While Riding It
The transition to college doesn’t have to be chaotic.
College Transition Planning (CTP) gives students the time, structure, and expert guidance to prepare—before they leave home.
This personalized coaching program helps rising college students build the executive function and life skills they need for a confident, organized, and supported start.
Understanding The Skills that Lead to a Successful College Transition
What is College Transition Planning
CTP is a one-on-one coaching program that supports students through the many layers of the college transition—from academics to independence to social dynamics. Instead of rushing in August, students begin planning early, reducing stress and building systems that will support them all year long.
What Students Can Work On
CTP works like a personalized checklist for college readiness. Common focus areas include:
Academic and study prep
Time management systems and goal setting
Disability accommodations and accessing support
Navigating roommate and social dynamics
Life skills: laundry, medication routines, budgeting
Move-in and orientation planning
Confidence building and family communication
With our College Transition Planning, we use the college transition to work on the skills that set them up for success.

Frequently Asked Questions
You ask, we
answer
Common questions answered to support your journey.
Who is CTP for?
CTP is designed for rising college students—typically high school graduates heading to college in the fall—who want to feel more confident, prepared, and independent before they arrive on campus. It’s great for students with or without diagnosed learning differences.
What makes this different from general academic coaching or therapy?
CTP is practical, skills-based, and future-focused. While therapy addresses emotional or clinical needs, and tutoring focuses on specific school subjects, CTP centers on executive function and life-readiness skills—the real-world tools students need to succeed independently in college.
What do students actually do in the sessions?
Each coaching session is customized to your student’s goals. Coaches might help them map out a class schedule, build a time-blocked calendar, role-play a conversation with a roommate, or walk through systems to manage medications and meal plans. The goal is practice and planning, not just advice.
How do you choose what to focus on with my student?
We begin with a planning conversation and intake process to understand your student’s needs. From there, the coach works collaboratively with the student to prioritize focus areas, using our checklist and their lived concerns as a guide. Coaching is always student-centered, not parent-driven, but we do gather feedback from parents on areas they may be concerned about.
What if my student isn’t motivated?
That’s common—and one reason this program works. Our coaches are trained to meet students where they are and build buy-in over time. We focus on autonomy, not pressure, helping students see the value of being prepared before they’re in the thick of it.
How long does the program last?
Most families participate weekly from May through mid-August, but we’re flexible. You can choose the number of weeks and hours per week (between 1 & 2). Some students continue into fall with the same coach at the same summer rate.
What’s the time commitment?
There is not a required time commitment. We will be open with you in regards to what can realistically be accomplished in the given time. If there are more areas to cover, we will need more time to do so.
Can I (as a parent) be involved?
Yes, to a degree. While we encourage student independence, we also offer optional parent communication planning and occasional check-ins, especially at the beginning and end of the program. Our goal is to reduce overreliance and build healthy systems that allow parents to step back with confidence.
