"Success is built step by step—by setting achievable goals and mastering foundational skills, every student can gain confidence and independence in learning."
Chris S.
As a Coordinator at New Frontiers, Chris works closely with clients to strengthen their executive functioning skills, advocate for their needs, and design structured learning plans that align with their goals. He specializes in supporting students who experience school avoidance as well as those navigating attention-related challenges or autism spectrum profiles, guiding them to build confidence, independence, and resilience. Known for his practical, student-centered approach, Chris tailors his work to each individual’s pace, ensuring skills are mastered step by step before moving into more complex strategies.
Chris holds a degree in Child Study from Saint Joseph’s University (formerly Saint Joseph’s College), where he studied both special and general education with a concentration in English. During his studies, he conducted research on moral reasoning and decision-making in adults with autism, deepening his insight into neurodiverse learning needs and perspectives. His academic foundation, combined with his professional experience, allows him to support students and families with both empathy and evidence-based strategies.
In addition to his role at New Frontiers, Chris teaches Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and middle school science electives at Fusion Academy Long Island. His teaching background is complemented by extensive experience in student advocacy and educational planning. He has participated in CSE meetings, written and supported Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and guided families in setting appropriate short- and long-term goals. This blend of teaching and advocacy equips him to create coaching partnerships that are structured, supportive, and goal-oriented.
At New Frontiers, Chris helps clients develop practical strategies for organization, planning, time management, and task initiation, while also supporting goal-setting, study strategies, and self-advocacy. His coaching emphasizes independence and confidence, encouraging clients to take ownership of their learning and progress while building the tools needed for long-term success.
Outside of his professional life, Chris enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors with his girlfriend and their dog, whether hiking or enjoying the beach. Athletics have always been a central part of his life—he has played competitive rugby in the New York City and Long Island area with Suffolk Rugby for more than a decade, having first played for the SUNY Oswego Wizards. He also enjoys participating in local recreational leagues for softball and darts, bringing the same spirit of teamwork, dedication, and competition into his leisure time that he carries into his coaching.
At New Frontiers, Chris combines his expertise in special education, science instruction, and advocacy to help clients build executive functioning skills and achieve their goals with confidence and clarity.
