About Colleen Curry
As a Coach at New Frontiers, Colleen partners with students, families, and adult clients to advance the organization’s mission of building sustainable executive functioning skills and lasting independence. She brings a thoughtful, individualized approach to her work, helping clients translate insight into action and develop practical systems that support success at school, at work, and in daily life. Colleen is particularly skilled at breaking down complex expectations into manageable steps, ensuring that each client feels both supported and appropriately challenged. Her work reflects a deep belief that with the right tools, structure, and encouragement, every individual can strengthen their capacity to thrive.
Colleen graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College at Dowling College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and earned her Master of Science in Special Education (grades 7–12) from Dowling College. She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Computers in Education, equipping her with the ability to integrate technology into learning and productivity systems in meaningful, accessible ways. With over 14 years of experience supporting students across a wide range of learning profiles and styles, Colleen has taught multiple academic subject areas and has worked with middle school, high school, college-level, and professional clients. Her background in special education provides her with a strong foundation in differentiation, scaffolding, and strategy instruction. She is adept at identifying underlying skill gaps and designing personalized approaches that build competence, confidence, and independence over time.
Colleen’s coaching supports clients in strengthening organization, time management, planning and prioritization, and task initiation. She helps individuals who struggle with sustaining attention, managing competing demands, or following through on long-term goals. She works collaboratively with clients to develop systems for tracking assignments and responsibilities, managing digital and physical materials, and building routines that reduce overwhelm. Colleen also supports clients in strengthening working memory, self-monitoring, and flexible thinking, particularly during transitions or periods of increased academic or professional pressure. Her approach emphasizes accountability balanced with empathy, helping clients move forward even when perfectionism, procrastination, or difficulty getting started stand in the way.
Outside of her professional life, Colleen enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors, especially relaxing around a fire pit with family and friends. She finds joy in caring for her pets and values the calm and connection that time in nature provides. A creative at heart, she knits adult chemo caps for local cancer centers, a reflection of her generosity and desire to give back to her community. She also enjoys attending live music performances and going to the theatre, appreciating the inspiration and perspective that the arts bring to her life. Colleen’s warmth, steadiness, and genuine care for others are evident in both her personal and professional worlds, making her a trusted and compassionate partner to the clients she serves.
