About Octavia R.

Octavia is a dedicated educator, mentor, and academic coach with over a decade of experience supporting students across middle school, high school, and post-secondary pathways. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, and executive functioning challenges. As a Teacher Mentor at Fusion Academy and a classroom educator in North Carolina schools, Octavia has developed expertise in individualized instruction, student advocacy, executive functioning support, academic coaching, and post-secondary readiness. She has also completed over half of her graduate-level studies in School Counseling, further strengthening her ability to support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

Octavia’s coaching style is supportive, structured, and relationship-centered. She believes that every student learns differently and works collaboratively with clients to build confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills. She particularly enjoys helping students strengthen executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, task initiation, prioritization, and goal setting. In addition, she is passionate about guiding students through the writing process, academic planning, college and career exploration, and the transition from high school to life after graduation. Her personalized approach helps students overcome challenges while recognizing and building upon their unique strengths.

Outside of her professional work, Octavia is passionate about mentoring young people and helping them discover meaningful paths toward their future goals. She enjoys building connections within her community, supporting student leadership opportunities, and encouraging personal growth both inside and outside the classroom. What motivates her most is seeing students gain confidence in themselves and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach. A fun fact about Octavia is that she has served as a cheerleading coach at both the middle school and high school levels, combining her love for mentorship, teamwork, and leadership development.
